WELCOME BABY
The Welcome Baby Program is a child abuse prevention program which provides information on infant care and child development, the appropriate use of local resources, and the importance of nurturing and bonding with babies. The emphasis of this program is on at-risk first-time parents who need education and emotional support, which we provide through a trained and caring staff member. Welcome Baby accepts referrals from social service agencies, individuals in the community, and self-referrals. New mothers are visited at home weekly and by phone, preferably the first six months of the baby's life, when they have questions, feel frustrated, need information, or just want to talk to someone. Welcome Baby may also be able to work with women in their last trimester of pregnancy.
The Welcome Baby Program has served 63 infants and parents from April through December 2010.
